The Charles Schwab Cup Championship is being played at the Phoenix Country Club and is usually the final tournament of the year, but with COVID playing havoc with the Champions Tour schedule the 2020 and 2021 seasons have been combined, so this will not be the deciding tournament until next year.
Mike Weir and Stephen Ames have opened up with -4 67's with Paul Goydos and Brandt Jobe -7 64 in the lead in perfectly calm conditions.
Ames is coming back after an early season injury and has been struggling to find his usual form, however on Bermuda greens that Goydos called " embarrassingly good, the best I've ever played on" he had his best round in a while.
They are in a group of 11 players all T7.
