Cyprus Showdown scoreboard here
After days of sunny skies during the fortnight the European Tour has been at the Aphrodite Hills Resort on the SW tip of the island, overcast skies arrived today with rain, thunder and lightning which caused play to be suspended mid round for 90 minutes
That system has moved out, play is back on with the cut currently at -5 for the top 32 players and ties who will advance to an 18 hole knockout on Saturday with scores being re-set to 0 and the final 16 and ties moving on to the 18 hole finale on Sunday with another re-set.
After opening with -2 69, Aaron Cockerill with his fiancé on the bag will miss the cut after a double bogey at 6 moves him to +3 with a hole to play
The leader at -11 is Englishman James Morrison 68 63. Other notables, Scotland's Robert MacIntyre 65 68 -9 is through (that score for my mother back in Edinburgh !) 46 year old Welshman Jamie Donaldson is on -9 at the turn, last week's winner Callum Shinkwin is looking for the Cyprus double, he's -7 at the turn and English journeyman Russ McGowen who won 2 weeks ago, is right on the cut line at -5 69 68 in the clubhouse.
The key is to make the top 32 and ties, with the scores being re set to 0 tomorrow, they all start even for the sprint to the final 16 and ties.
