After a three hour delay due to heavy rain, thunder and lightning, and a lot of moaning and complaining by the guys at the Golf Channel this 84th Masters got back under way after a brief one hole start. The sun is out, the cell has passed through.
As I talked about yesterday the weather forecast has improved from earlier forecasts, with the next 3 days under partly cloudy skies, with little wind and a 30% chance of some showers.
Gary and Jack came out in darkness at 7am to hit the traditional first drives in a light rain, then Corey Connors and his pairing played the first hole before the heavens opened and the rain started in earnest, with lightning nearby.
Everyone that was up, out and ready to go headed back to the clubhouse, hung around, got on their phones, had another breakfast in the eerie quiet of an empty Augusta National.
When the always hyper Jordan Spieth was asked for the hundredth time how it would be to play without a crowd he said " just like a practice round, except we know what we are still playing for"
