It is immediately apparent this morning that Mike Davis and his USGA staff have been stung by the severe criticism they received yesterday after Shinnecock became an unfair test to the later tee times.
Water has been applied to the greens and surrounds and the grass has been allowed to grow.
As a result Rickie Fowler has made the turn at -4 which is 10 shots better than Saturday. ..Phil Mickelson has turned with a -3 score.
So keep this in mind as the contenders tee off later today...
