Mike Weir is back in contention at Rust-oleum Championship

Web.com Tour Rust-oleum Championship leaderboard https://www.pgatour.com/webcom/leaderboard.html

It's great to see Mike Weir back in contention, this time on the Web.com Tour near Chicago where after 71,67 he is T14 at -6 138 at the Rust-Oleum Championship.

His last top-10 in a PGA TOUR event was a runner-up at the 2014 AT&T Byron Nelson,  his only top-10 in his last 129 starts on the PGA TOUR.

Over the years many golf fans have given up on Weirsy, but the one person who hasn't is Mike himself. At 47 he is in golf's no man's land, no longer with status on the PGA Tour and 3 years from being a rookie again on the PGA Champions Tour.

His 67 had 7 birdies, including a bogey free back nine of 33.

The leader at -12 is rookie, Texan Maverick McNealy who is the former world #1 amateur.

Follow Mike's progress on the scoring link above, he's off at 12.35 local time today.
