Tiger shoots 68 for clubhouse lead at Arnold Palmer Invitational

PGA Tour Arnold Palmer Invitational leaderboard https://www.pgatour.com/competition/2018/arnold-palmer-invitational-presented-by-mastercard/leaderboard.html

With 6 birdies in a round of -4 68 Tiger Woods has just completed his day tied for the clubhouse lead. Patrick Reed also shot 68, and Jimmy Walker is at -4 late in his round.

On a Bay Hill course that he has mastered with 8 wins, matching Sam Snead's record at the Greensboro Open, Tiger who began play on the back nine, only had 1 blemish when he drove out of bounds on the 3rd leading to a double bogey 6.

The coup de grace came on the par 3 7th when he thrilled the huge gallery with a 70 footer, right across the green and right into the cup. I may add the putt would have gone 10' past if it hadn't hit the hole.

It was that kind of round for the man who has been installed as the 8/1 favourite to win his 5th Masters in a months time.

The rough is brutal and the perfect greens are fast so far today. The weather is perfect, sunny, warm and calm. Driver isn't a must off the tee, accuracy is, although the big bombers can pick their line to gain an advantage.

Canadian scores: Nick Taylor has opened E 72, Mac Hughes +2 74

The marquee group this afternoon is Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler and defending champion Marc Leishman.
