PGA Tour John Deere Classic scoreboard http://espn.go.com/golf/leaderboard?tour=pga
No it's not Jordan Spieth, yet, who leads after 2 rounds down at TPC Deere Run in Illinois. He is T16 though 71 64 -7 and is getting all the ink. Spieth took two weeks off after winning the U.S. Open and says he was rusty during his first round
It's another young gun, a very impressive Justin Thomas at 63 67 -12 who leads the field by a shot over veterans Johnson Wagner 68 63 and Tom Gillis 66 65 at -11. Thomas, only 22, has had a rivalry with Spieth during college where they were the best amateurs in the States, Thomas was at Alabama and Spieth was at Texas.
Thomas started the week with a stunning record 63 and was nearly as good Friday with 67, giving him another shot at his first career win after losing the lead with a bad final round at last week’s Greenbrier Classic.
He has all the tools, and just needs a few breaks here and there to step up into that rare air that guys like Spieth, McIlroy, Fowler breath.
Roger Sloan, Adam Hadwin and David Hearn all made the cut at -4. Nick Taylor missed the cut and Mike Weir withdrew after shooting 73 on Thursday
