Svensson, Connors T5 going into a calm weekend at the Sony Open

PGA Tour : Sony Open leaderboard here.

After another calm day of low scoring at the Sony Open on Waialae, the cut fell at -5, American Russell Henley 63 opened up a 3 shot lead at -15, Corey Connors and Adam Svensson both shot -3 67 and at -9 are T5, six shots behind, heading into the weekend.

The other 3 Canadians didn't get off to the start they wanted by missing the cut. Roger Sloan shot 67 but finished -2, Taylor Pendrith 70 +1 and Michael Gligic 71 for +3.

Streaky Chinaman Haotong Li 63 65 -12 is 2nd, he has fallen to 460th in the world after missing 14 straight cuts on the European Tour in 2021.  Matt Kuchar 64 65 -11 is 3rd. Kuchar and his family live on Sea Island, Georgia, have been on holiday on the Big Island, Hawaii since before Christmas and will stay another 2 weeks before flying down to play in the Pebble Beach AT&M.

As I mentioned yesterday, there is no wind in the forecast this weekend, so whoever makes the most birdies will end up the winner.

Defending champion Kevin Na couldn't miss on his Thursday -9 61, as is often the case lost some of the magic in his sleep, was 10 shots worse +1 71 and is now -8 T16.

Further Cameron Smith who won last week and set a PGA Tour scoring record.....misses the cut this week ..
