However another week full of intriguing storylines gets under way at Torrey Pines North and South where former World #1 Dustin Johnson will re appear after taking more than 2 months off, and he will join the headliner and current #1 Jon Rahm who's record here includes a US Open 2021, this event in 2017, 2nd in 2020, and T7 last year,
Patrick Reed won by 5 shots in 2021. The purse is $8.4m with the winner getting $1.512 and 500 points.
There are a record 9 Canadians in the field (not counting the RBC Canadian Open) as Monday qualifiers Jared du Toit and Max Sear both shot 68, T2 at the Bear Creek course in Murrieta, California.
They will join Corey Conners 12.40pm, Nick Taylor 12,20pm, Adam Svensson 12.50pm all on the South course, and over on the North, Adam Hadwin 12.10, Mac Hughes 12.10, Michael Gligic 1pm, Taylor Pendrith 1.10 all times EST.
Play begins on Wednesday and finishes Saturday to avoid TV clashing with the NFL Championship games.
