Stephen Ames ties course record at Charles Schwab Cup Championship

PGA Champions Tour Charles Schwab Cup Championship leaderboard https://www.pgatour.com/champions/competition/2018/charles-schwab-cup-championship/leaderboard.html

To be honest with you there was a time when Lee Trevino, Jack, Arnie and Gary were all on the Senior Tour it was a way more exciting than the PGA Tour. Recently with Bernhard Langer's dominance and lack of star power, it has become a little boring from my point of view.

However Stephen Ames has been playing well this year with 3 top 10's including T3 at the Senior Open Championship. He is currently ranked 36th.

Yesterday he eagled the 18th to tie the Phoenix CC record -10 61. It was his best score on this tour and on the PGA Tour and it puts him in 2nd place at 68 67 61 -17 just a shot behind Scott McCarron who is vying with Langer to win the Charles Schwab Cup.

Stephen will be in the final group for the 3rd week in a row and should he win it would be his biggest victory since the Players Championship in 2006.
