Hadwin and Taylor T8 at ISPS Hana World Cup...Rai leads in Hong Kong

The golf scene has moved to Hong Kong and down under to Melbourne, Australia and oh yes briefly to Las Vegas to that staged Phil vs Tiger $10m match.

As for the latter Phil edged Tiger on a 4th playoff hole to take home $9m of the sponsors not so hard earned money...Personally I had no interest..found it to be rather obscene. .

In Melbourne, Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor are plugging away at the ISPS Handa World Match Play and after opening T23 they have moved up to a T8 at -11 after a bogey free -8 64 in today's fourball. They opened with 69 in fourballs on Thursday, managed E 72 in a howling gale and wind on Friday in foursomes before today's 64.

There is one more round of foursomes (best ball) to go at the Metropolitan Golf Course in Melbourne where the Belgian pair of Thomas Peters and Thomas Detry have a 5 shot lead after their -9 63 got them to -19.

There are 28 teams of 2. They play 4 rounds alternating between fourball and foursome formats.

Meanwhile at the Honma Hong Kong Open, England's Aaron Rai leads Tommy Fleetwood and Matthew Fitzpatrick by 6 shots at -16 heading into Sunday's  final round.

He is after his first win on the European Tour as their 2019 season gets underway and has been outstanding shooting 65, 61, 68. He won 3 times on the Challenge Tour.

However the star of the week so far has been Sergio Garcia whose shotmaking has been spectacular, including a 200 yard slice from the rough around a huge tree, over a pond which hit the pin on the smallest part of the green and dropped stone dead. He is at -9 T4. He also drove the par 4 10th with a three wood, soaring over the pond and settling 5 feet away for an eagle 2. His 64 was the round of the day.

For those who have asked me, Honma is a high end Japanese golf club and apparel company, famous for its gold-plated clubs who are trying to become a major player in the golf business after having been purchased by Chinese businessman Liu Jianguo and who have recently hired several ex Taylor Made executives to bolster their North American operations.

Justin Rose has only ever played with Taylor Made, is rumoured to be leaving them and their star studded line-up including Tiger Woods, this season to join Honma.
