MacKenzie Hughes is in the opening group at 8am, Albin Choi 8.44, Adam Svensson 1.34, Brad Fritsch 1.56 and Roger Sloan 2.18.
Here are the current top 25 who will qualify for next year as play begins today with Brad Fritsch at #16 and MacKenzie Hughes at #19. They have both qualified due to their wins on this tour in 2016, but are trying to improve their status.

Heavy rain delays play in Milan for the Italian Open

Many of the regulars on the European Tour are enjoying a week of great food and wine down in Milan, along with 19 Italians playing their national championship at the Italian Open. There are seven members of the Ryder Cup team boosting the star power and supporting the announcement that the cup will contested there in 2022.
The weather so far hasn't been good however as the field has been chased off the course twice this morning with heavy rain and lightning in the area and play has now resumed at 1.30pm local time.

Play was almost totally washed out as the bad weather meant that just over an hour's play was possible at Golf Club Milano. The upshot is there is a five hour delay to the morning games yet to tee off and a five-hour delay to the afternoon tee times.

Lydia Ko defends her Evian Championship in France
Despite the fact the PGA Tour is off this week before the season finale at the Tour Championship, it's another busy, important weekend of golf including the LPGA/LETs final major, the Evian Championship in France where Lydia Ko defends so let's start there.

Monday morning wrap and US Ryder Cup picks
At 11am this morning Davis Love III will make 3 of his 4 captains picks for this year's Ryder Cup squad, with the 4th coming after the Tour Championship. The much anticipated presser will be the icing on what was another storied weekend in the pro game.
The US team is staring at a 2-8 record since 1995 and of course had a near mutiny on their hands after their thrashing at Gleneagles in 2014.
They have appointed a task force which includes Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson along with captain Love, and have jiggled the selection format from the traditional 10 qualifiers and 2 picks to this year's format.
I believe he will pick Matt Kuchar, JB Holmes and Bubba. Rickie Fowler has played his way off the team. That leaves him with whoever is hottest after East Lake as his final pick. The Ryder Cup starts at Hazeltine on September 30th.

What a great story, a Dutchman wins his national title on a course simply called the Dutch, and he ties the course record to do it in front of a huge adoring gallery. Congratulations to Joost Luiten who went out and shot 63 to win the KLM Open by 3 shots over Bernd Weisberger.
Luiten becomes the first Dutch player to win his national Open twice since it joined the European Tour in 1972,following his win in 2013 and makes him a five-time winner on Tour

Paul Casey is playing some of his best golf, he just keeps running into hot hands. Last week he was 2nd to Rory who went out and shot 65 on Sunday to win the Deutsche Bank, this week it was Dustin Johnson who is at his absolute peak, making the game seem ridiculously easy on his way to a -5 67 -23 total for his 3rd win in his last 8 starts. He is the player of the year, 2016.
Still Casey has banked $1,836,000, not bad for a fortnight's work and he moves into the coveted top 5 at the Tour Championship for a shot at the $10 million bonus.
DJ is awesome off the tee, finally making all the important putts and has a sharp wedge game, there isn't a course out there he can't overpower.
I am not alone in thinking his win at the US Open finally got the monkey off his back, and he is now winning as regularly as we all knew he could, but didn't.. if you know what I mean.
I will be interested to see how his bottle is when the heat of the Ryder Cup gets turned up in 3 weeks time, but I do know he is better shape to handle it than ever before.
David Hearn shot a 71 to finish the event tied for 32nd at 5-under 283 and he drops out of the Fed Ex Cup playoffs as a result.

As expected with such a crowded weekend leaderboard this event ended up in a 4 man playoff with Bryson DeChambeau beating Andres Gonzales with a 5-foot par putt on the second hole of a playoff at Canterbury Golf Club.
DeChambeau and Gonzales each birdied the 18th on the first extra, eliminating Nicholas Lindheim and Argentina’s Julian Etulain.
DeChambeau shot a +1 71 in windy conditions to match Gonzales (68), Lindheim (66) and Etulain (67) at -7 273 and with the win he wraps up his PGA Tour card for next season.

The Saturday Story..BMW Chamionship. DAP Championship.. live leaderboards, news..
The BMW Championship on the rain soaked, soft Crooked Stick course in Carmel Indiana is producing very low scores, including a new course record, as the field continues to get whittled down to the final 30 for the Tour Championship, so there is a lot at stake this weekend, including captain's picks for the US Ryder Cup team.
Meanwhile just outside Cleveland at the historic Canterbury GC, the Web.com. playoffs are underway at the DAP Championship, there are 3 Canadians who have survived the cut, and there is a six way tie for the lead on a jammed leaderboard.

The story here is that Roberto Castro who has gone 125 starts on the PGA Tour without a win was well clear of the field with a pair of 65's -14 until he was caught by Dustin Johnson who added a course record -9 63 to his opening 67 -14 and they are 3 shots ahead going into play today.
Johnson has been terrific this year with his US Open and WGC titles, so he is a Player of the Year candidate, will be in the coveted top 5 at the Tour Championship, is already in the Ryder Cup and much more to follow.
Castro on the other hand is currently at #53 in the FedEx Cup and remember only the top 30 make it to the finale at East Lake.
Again the weather remains unsettled and play has been delayed again this morning for a least an hour.
Paul Casey continues his fine play, he is next at 67 66 -11, then JB Holmes bidding for a captain's pick is 69 65 -10 along with Chris Kirk 68 66.

BMW Championship continues round one on Friday after a Thursday rain delay
The BMW Golf Championship resumed play at 5:30 pm after a 3.5 hour rain delay on Thursday afternoon.
The National Weather Service issued a severe weather alert for the Carmel area near Crooked Stick Golf Course at around 2:00 pm. The air horns for the BMW PGA Tournament sounded and fans were told to take shelter before the skies opened up and flooded some parts of the course.

Play will begin at 8.00am this morning with more bad weather in the forecast,the delay meant that just under half the 69-man field finished the round.
American Robert Castro is in with a -7 65 currently good for the lead. David Hearn has only played 3 holes, so you can see how spread out the field is, and the course is very wet, especially for the spectators.
Hideki Matsuyama, Paul Casey and Adam Scott are at -4 on the back nine. Casey had the 54-hole lead last week at the TPC Boston. Rory McIlroy is -3 under through 10 holes. Jordan Spieth is at -2. Rickie Fowler vying for a captain's pick for the Ryder Cup opened with a 75.
However the sun is shining this morning, the course is soft and the bad weather is not scheduled until around noon.

He was T1 through 6 holes at -2 and ended up with an E 70. Remember he has already secured his playing privileges for 2017 on the PGA Tour, he is just trying to improve his position.
The other Canucks who have qualified for these playoffs are Roger Sloan +1 thru 9, Adam Svensson E 70, Albin Choi +2 72 and MacKenzie Hughes. -E thru 15 before play was called due to heavy rain at 7pm.
The leader at 63 -7 is Bobby Wyatt followed by the always entertaining Bryson DeChambeau 64 -6.
Play will resume at 8am Friday morning.
