PGA Tour: Truist Championship : Tee Times Leaderboard
Let's be honest here, 2 months ago Alex Fitzpatrick was a rank and file grinder on the DP World Tour with a very famous older brother who had done it all, US Open, Ryder Cup hero who hung out with Rory, Rosey, Tommy bathing in the love and respect of the European golf fans.
He had a nice game like so many of his International colleagues, then on March 29 he overcame a 6 shot deficit to win his first DP World Championship, the Hero Indian Open a week after Matt won the Valspar Championship in Florida.
Buoyed by his success, he flew to New Orleans to unite with his parents and Matt, and in dramatic fashion, won the Zurich Classic on April 26th and the change in his life was complete, a million dollar prize, and the coveted PGA Tour card.
Now here is is on Mother's Day with mother Sue, an accomplished golfer herself standing by again as her youngest son leads the $20,000,000 Truist Championship by a shot, 67 68 64 -14.
Some day they will make a movie about the Fitzpatrick brothers.
Norwegian PGA Tour rookie Kristoffer Reitan, in America after qualifying via the DP World Tour is 2nd 66 70 64 -13.
The hottest American golfer, Cam Young, already winner of the Player's Championship in March, and the Cadillac Championship last week, is 3rd, 68 70 63 -12 who said "I'm playing good golf right now, there is nothing cluttering my mind, just play my shots as I see them with confidence, and see what happens"
The combined purses of his last two wins are a whopping $45,000,000, with another $20,000,000 on offer this week, and many more millions at the PGA Championship next week.
Rory had one of his worst rounds on Quail Hollow, a surprising +3 75 to drop out of contention.
