PGA Tour: Arnold Palmer Invitational Saturday live leaderboard here.
The hot Florida sun has baked the greens at this edition of the AP Invitational, to the point they are brown with very little grass on them.
"I've never had so many tricky 6 footers for bogey" said Rory McIlroy after his +4 76 which at -3 total is still right in contention.
The leaders, Billy Horschel (71) and Talor Gooch (72) are only at -7 the type of score reserved for a windy week at St Andrews. However Bay Hill is so typically Florida, heavily bunkered, water infested, rock hard baked out greens, that scoring is simply at a premium, three putting is inevitable.
Corey Conners has found his form, at this time last year he was red hot, not so much so far this year.
However after 73 72 start he managed one of the better Saturday rounds -3 69 and at -2 T9 he is still not out of it, especially with his ball striking, he like Brooke Henderson "just has to make a few more putts"
Taylor Pendrith 71 72 74 +1 T26 and Nick Taylor 70 77 72 +3 T43.
Whoever makes a few more putts and avoids a big number will shoot up this tightly packed leaderboard with guys like Viktor Hovland (75 -6) and recent winner Scottie Scheffler (68 -5) and surprisingly Graeme McDowell (68 76 69 -3) in contention.
It doesn't take a lot of wind to make Bay Hill under these conditions, a very stern test, it is expected to be a factor again today, where picking a winner must be making the bookies nervous..
