PGA Tour: Arnold Palmer Invitational Saturday leaderboard here
With the Bay Hill course firming up under the hot Florida sun with temperatures in the mid 80's f, scores went soaring with the heat. In a season when mid 60's have been the norm, it was mid 70's on Friday and with more of the same weather with a bit more wind, I expect that trend to continue.
Viktor Hovland of Norway plays his tee shot on the par 5, 12th hole
The fabulous young Norwegian, Viktor Hovland who in my opinion is well on his way to the world #1 spot after his storming win earlier this season at the prestigious Dubai Desert Classic in January, his 6th title, wasn't much affected with 69 66 -9 to take a 2 shot lead into the weekend at this edition of the AP Invitational.
The cut slipped from a projected +1 to +3 as the sun set into the Atlantic and that allowed 3 Canadians in for the weekend albeit kicking and scratching...
Taylor Pendrith has scrambled well for T20 71 72 -1. For example, playing the course backwards on Friday, he shot 4 birdies including 3 in a row along with 2 bogey's his back nine, coming in at -2 34, after surviving a double bogey on his 9th hole for +2 38 on the front.
Corey Conners is in 72 73 +1 T39, he was all pars with 1 birdie on the front nine at Bay Hill, but put it in the water for a double at the 11th, added 2 more bogey's at 17,18 mixed in with 2 birdies for the 73. I must say following his progress on Tour Cast for the most part he struck the ball beautifully from tee to green, but was T105th in putts for greens in regulation.
I never thought Nick Taylor was going to make it after a struggling 77, but at +3 he did on the number after 3 bogey's and a double and no birdies.
After his great last week at the Honda, Adam Svensson has the weekend off after 70 79 sent him home.
Rory 72 and Tyrrell Hatton 68 along with Talor Gooch 68 are well placed at -7 on what should be a tricky moving day at Arnold's place.
