Hadwin's solid start, round 1 to be continued this morning at US Open... Friday scoreboard. TEE TIMES

 US Open Friday leaderboard here

Adam Hadwin in the words of veteran Canadian star Richard Zokol " needs to get to the next level", meaning he's been stuck in the same milieu with his game for sometime, in the words of Lee Trevino "if that dog ain't hungry it's not gonna hunt".

I'm not sure if Adam would agree he's become comfortable with his life in the top 100 on the PGA Tour, but yesterday he was very pleased with his start, -1 70 T11 as a weather delayed Thursday wound down at the US Open, just 3 shots off the lead.

"It's a tough week, all 4 days is a grind through every round, so to get under par for the first round is a great start. I did a lot of good things, so gained some momentum for the next three.

I had 3 good days of practice here, hitting it well, rolling it well, I'm comfortable with the west coast poa annua greens, I see them well, read them well.

It's just a matter of staying patient, treating each shot for what it's worth. I hit some really, really good shots to targets that may have looked average on TV, or on the scorecard, but that's what I needed to do"

Mac Hughes 73 T61 while Corey Connors and Taylor Pendrith both had 75 T96.

Louis Oosthuizen is -4 thru 16 holes, Russell Henley is in the clubhouse with the lead after his -4 67.

The remaining field who didn't finish will be called out before 7am this morning, (10am est),

Rory McIlroy raised a big cheer as he hustled down the 18th in darkness last night with a birdie for -1 70, thus avoiding the early recall this morning.

Weather. It's an overcast, cool start to the day in San Diego, a little rain in the air as of 7am, no word of fog, and as the sun breaks through it should be a pleasant warm day with a gentle breeze off the Pacific.
