Hearn T2 in Hawaii, Every irks tour with stance on marijuana.

David Hearn continued his solid play in round 2 at the Sony Open on Oahu Island in Hawaii adding a second -4 66 for a -8 total, 2 shots behind leader Matt Every 66,64 -10 who the media are making a big deal over because 2 years ago he was charged with  possession of marijuana, a charge that was subsequently dropped, however he was suspended for 3 months by the squeaky clean PGA tour for conduct unbecoming.

Yesterday he told the post round gathering that he wasn't going to tell friends he has who smoke pot that they couldn't be his friend anymore, and in fact knew more people who do smoke pot than don't, and further there were way more serious things going on out here than smoking a joint.

Remember the PGA tour asks it's players to butt out when they are on course, or at least when in camera range, Jack and Arnie were/are both ardent puffers, but you only see them in old footage with a smoke in their mouths..

To me it's a case of who gives a damn re Every's stance, to others he has a privileged life on tour and his very commonly held stance on marijuana can't be waved in the face of the tour's etiquette.

He is probably best to carry on and just shut up about it. Not worth the hassle.

Stephen Ames andGraham  Delaet are T17 at -5 135 just 5 shots off the lead, their scores below. Graham had back to back doubles at 11 and 12 in his +2 72.
