Thomas rallies to win first PGA Tour event

PGA Tour CIMB Classic final scoreboard http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/cimb-classic/leaderboard.html

You can add another young gun to the never ending list of emerging golf stars, as 22 year old Justin Thomas has rallied to win his first PGA Tour event, the CIMB Classic by a single shot over a brilliant Adam Scott.

I say 'rallied" because when he made a double bogey on the 14th I  thought his chances were gone, but like the champion he know is and will be for years to come he bounced right back with three consecutive birdies to take back the lead and to top it off after scrambling his way up the par 5 18th
he holed a 6-foot par putt for the win.

His -6 66 after a course record 61 on Friday gave him the tournament-record -26, 262 total at this steamy Kuala Lumpur GC. He joins Emiliano Grillo and Smylie Kaufman as young first time winners this 2016 wrap around season.

Scott, had an eagle and seven birdies in his closing 63, the best of the day, as his putting which was so bad at the Presidents Cup after he switched to a regular length putter was much better, using the claw grip, he will take heart in nearly winning here this week.
Kevin Na (67) was up to his old tricks as he lipped out short putts at 16 and 17 to T3 at -24 along with Brendan Steele (68).

I must remind you that Na lost a playoff at the Frys.com Open then T2 at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open this year, now a T3 and to make matters worse he T2 here last year, and now has a reord of eight second-place finishes and seven thirds, with just the one win.

Canadian scores : David Hearn 70 65 74 68 -11 T29, Nick Taylor 74 70 69 68 -7 T47
