2016 Race to Dubai underway at stunning Leopard Creek CC, RSA..

European Tour Alfred Dunhill Championship leaderboard http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2016/tournamentid=2015092/leaderboard/index.html#Ah71wdDfOJ8mlMKE.97

The Leopard Creek CC is arguably one of the most stunning settings in golf. Situated near the town of Malalane the course and it's housing estate are separated by an electrified fence and a river from magnificent Kruger National Park, with the entire spectrum of wildlife, elephants, crocodiles, water buffalo, eagles, springboks and of course leopards on full view from many of the golf course vantage points. Louis Oosthuizen was saying that the park is very dry this year, so big game sighting is even better because the bush is not as thick as usual.

It is here that the 2016 Race to Dubai gets underway in conjunction with the Sunshine Tour every year, with a strong fields of South Africans led by Presidents Cup partners Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace, along with Masters champion Charles Schwartzel and a sprinkling of European Tour regulars looking  to get their seasons off to a lucrative start. Many of these top players have been away from South Africa for 9 months, so it is always a joy for them to return.

The weather today is simply stunning, big blue skies, a hot wind, lush jungle vegetation, mountains a valley, it is overwhelming.

28 year old Christiaan Basson who has the clubhouse lead with a very solid -8 64. He is a four-time Sunshine Tour winner and has a three-shot lead over Matt Ford, Mark Williams and Jeff Inglis
