Jose Coceres and Billy Andrade share the first-round lead at 6-under 66 in the Champions Tour’s Principal Charity Classic in Des Moines. Coceres, from Argentina, had six birdies, four on the final seven holes in his bogey-free round. The two-time PGA Tour champion is winless on the 50-and-over tour.
Defending champion Tom Pernice Jr. was a stroke back along with Mark Calcavecchia, Paul Goydos, Michael Allen, Brian Henninger, Grant Waite and Jeff Coston, while Rod Spittle is right in contention along with Bernhard Langer at 68 for a share of 10th. Jim Rutledge shot 75.
