Sweden's Jens Dantorp has taken the the clubhouse lead thanks to 3 birdies in his last 4 holes, playing in his home town, firing a very impressive -5 67 in very windy conditions on this wide open PGA Sweden National course.
Thomas Pieters from Belgium and English veteran Lee Slattery are also in the clubhouse with -4 68 while home favourite and world #4 Henrik Stenson opened with a -2 70. Ireland's
Peter Lawrie's is in a large group at -3 69 but he managed to go bogey-free, which although not as difficult to do as it was last week at Royal County Down GC, is an impressive feat considering the wind. Lawrie you may remember recently admitted he had become addicted to Coca Cola, and has been playing much better now that he is healthier without all that sugar coursing through his body every day.
In the afternoon flight, Miguel Jimenez had the gallery buzzing opening with 3 straight birdies, he is currently back to level par.
