Play is just wrapping up in Dubai and I can tell you Lee Westwood is in the clubhouse with a 67 -15 total for a one shot lead that could have been much better. He was immaculate tee to green but just couldn't make the key putts he needed to turn that 67 into a 63 or 4.
McIlroy and Bjorn are coming down 18 now, if you haven't seen this Emirates course over the years 18 is a long par 5 dogleg left with the green protected by a pond, so it is the classic risk, reward hole. Thomas Bjorn who has made bogey at 15 and 16 has just gone for 18 in 2 and put it in the pond, while Martin Kaymer in the group ahead just made it over by inches and had to chip with only his toes on the wall, he nearly fell backwards into the pond.
Rory who has had 3 bogey's on his back nine is safely on 18 in 2, and has just 2 putted for birdie and a E 72 T5 -13, while Thomas Bjorn has just made 6 for +1 73 -12 total.
So Westwood at -15 leads as round 3 is now over, with a gusty wind expected tomorrow, but he has Rory at -13 along with Martin Kaymer (70) hot on his heels.
Three guys are on -14, Marcel Siem (68) who was the worst dressed today..turquoise pants, brown shirt, white hat with yellow lettering, black shoes.. must have been laundry day, Stephen Gallagher (68) and the Spaniard Rafael Cabrera-Bello (70)
Note John Daly shot 67 is -6 T29, Mark O'Meara 69 -4 T45 Fred Couples 72 -2 T59
So it should be another great day tomorrow, especially with 17 being a driveable par 4 if the wind is right, and 18 as I described earlier.
