The Scot, who won this event 13 years ago and then secured The Open Championship at Carnoustie that July, went round in a brilliant 65 -15 201 to finish four ahead of Australian Jason Day 65, -11 205
John Daly had his best finish, 4th 67,73,67 -9 207 in a long time and of note Sergio Garcia finished T5 and Martin Kaymer returned to form with T9.
The high winds and sand storms that caused organizers to reduce this event to 54 holes have blown through leaving the field with ideal conditions.
