Canadian round up heading into Saturday's play... Live scoreboards /stories

The strong winds that will strip the leaves from our trees here in the GTA over the next 3 days were blowing in Cyprus and Bermuda earlier today and on Friday, playing havoc with scoring, but Canadians faired pretty well with three in the T20 at the Port Royal GC and Aaron Cockerill hanging in there at the Aphrodite Golf Resort.

Bermuda Championship Saturday leaderboard here

As is so often the case with golf in Bermuda and indeed over in the Bahamas, the wind got up yesterday making it hard to stand up, never mind play golf. Scores soared into the 80's but apart from a recovering Graham DeLaet who M/C the others did very well before darkness halted play.

Roger Sloan was T6 67 70 -5 just 3 shots off the lead. He is E through 5 holes today.

David Hearn is out early today and is -4 on his round making the turn at -6 after 68, 72.

Michael Gligic 68 71 is -2 today through 9 holes and -5 total.

WEATHER: It is 74*f overcast with the wind from the NE at 20mph, so not as bad as Friday.

Cyprus Championship Saturday leaderboard Leaderboard

Aaron Cockerill from Manitoba is exempt this year on the European Tour, which is housed and playing at the Aphrodite Hills Golf Resort on the SW tip of Cyprus for the next fortnight.

Today he was at -11 on the 11th tee right amongst the leaders after rounds of  69 66 and an opening nine of 33. However as the wind picked up he made 5 straight bogey's, before recovering with 2 more birdies for a final -1 70 to stand T27 -8.

The leaderboard is packed, 43 year old Jamie Donaldson playing on a medical exemption leads by one with 65 65 69 -14

Also playing in Boca Raton at the Timber Tech Championship on the Senior circuit Mike Weir opened with -3 69, and Stephen Ames was dead last after +7 79

The leaders at -8 64 John Daly and Jim Furyk who has already won twice in his rookie year. Watch out for defending champ Bernhard Langer at -7. He has lived in Boca Raton for over 30 years.
