Under crystal clear blue skies on the outskirts of Oman's capital Muscat, a 32 year old from Holland, Joost Luiten held his nerve with 3 birdies on the back nine and despite being pressured by his good friend Chris Wood from England he shot a -4 68 to win his 6th European Tour victory by 2 strokes. Wood shot -3 69 to finish 2nd at -14.
There were ten players within four shots of the lead as the final group reached the turn but it evolved into a shootout between Luiten and Wood on the back nine, with the experienced duo going toe-to-toe in the desert.
It is his first win in 17 months and moves him into the top 10 in the Race to Dubai which qualifies him for the WGC Mexico Championship in 2 weeks.Bryan Angus
