Haru Nomura and Jenny Shin were tied for the lead at -9 entering the final round of the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open, both looking for their first victories on the LPGA Tour with 41-time winner Karrie Webb and 10-time LPGA winner and defending champion Lydia Ko just a shot back at -8.

However in the final round it was the little Japanese star Haru Nomura who was too good on the day, with a final round of 65, -16 total, three shots ahead of defending champion Lydia Ko who tried hard all afternoon, finishing with 67 -13, in second place. Aussie legend Karrie Webb (Webbie) was alone in 3rd 71, -9.

The day started as the Karrie Webb (vying for her 6th) and Lydia Ko show as the two former Australian Open winners battled back-and-forth for the majority of the front nine before Nomura took over thanks to birdies on 9, 10, 13, 15, 16 and 17 for her first LPGA win.

Brooke Henderson fired a final round 67 to get into the clubhouse at -7, T9 while Alena Sharp finished with 71,-1.

Next week the tour is in Thailand.
