PGA Tour : CJ Cup Byron Nelson Results
Taylor Pendrith with a birdie 4 on the 72nd hole has won the CJ CUP Byron Nelson by a single shot after American Ben Kohles made a bogey 6 on his last hole to hand Pendy the win.
It is his first PGA Tour win. "It was all a blur the last hour. To finally get it done feels unbelievable."
He and Kohles shared the lead on and off all day, and it all came down to that last hole with Pendrith's length coming to the fore, after 18 months of diminished clubhead speed due to his injured shoulder.
He got on the par 5 in two shots, and two putted for the win. His golfing life has changed, immediately. $1.7 million 2 years exemption including all the signature events beginning this week in Charlotte NC at the $20,000,000 Wells Fargo, the Masters, moving up to 34th in the Fed Ex Cup with 500 points and as importantly up 12 places in the Presidents Cup standings to #14.
" I have had the 54 hole lead before, and haven't got it done. I learned from that, and tried to be a little better today, stay in my own lane, just put my head down and go to work. To get it done feels unreal"
"You know to see my name with some of those on this trophy feels unbelievable, I still can't believe I'm the winner of this tournament"
It will sink in and with it the confidence that he belongs, and on his day, his week,, he can beat any of these guys....priceless..
