PGA Tour : Myrtle Beach Classic Tee Times
Many Canadians, yours truly included, have made the trip down to South Carolina to the golf invested community that has taken up every possible tract of land to cope with the demand from hackers arriving from all over the world.
Most of us drove for 18 hours to get there when the flight from Toronto used to be a milk run, stopping in Rochester, Pittsburg etal on the way down, when smoking was allowed (believe it or not) on board.
The new and improved PGA Tour has provided an alternative event this week, the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic for those not at Quail Hollow, just a shortish drive up the highway in North Carolina.
Scotsman Robert (Bob) McIntyre and American Beau Hossler lead after opening -7 64 at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club with round 2 just underway.
Hossler looking for his 1st win calls the course "very gettable"
There is a spot at next week's PGA Championship for the winner. Scroll down the leaderboard to see all kinds of guys, many now on the fringes, with their own stories trying to catch lightning in a bottle at these alternative events.
