Bubba wins again at Riviera...Hadwin's great weekend T6

Adam Hadwin had a great weekend at the Genesis Open on the fabled Riviera GC. With back to back rounds of 66 he was -10 and climbed up 31 spots on the leaderboard to end up T6 at -8 just 4 shots behind the winner Bubba Watson.

Hadwin (70 74 66 66 -8) only had 1 bogey over the weekend, and if you consider he had 5 bogey's and a triple during his 2nd round 74, he may well have won. This was his 2nd top 10 in his last 4 starts after his T3 at the Career Builders.

Watson hadn't won in 2 years but obviously loves Riviera. His -12 total was good enough for a 2 shot victory and his 3rd on this famous LA course. While he posted a bogey free 33 on his Sunday back nine, it was really his -6 65 on Saturday that won the event for him. He also won in 2014 and 2016.

His short game totals ranked #1, and he was 2nd tee to green. Watson, a well respected, very emotional flake on tour, (these days it's called ADHD, which makes it difficult to focus on one task, they may be pulled in different directions, or not complete the task at hand) hadn't won since Riviera in 2016 and was playing so poorly he'd dropped from #4 to #117. He says he was so bad last year  he discussed retirement with his wife on a dozen occasions.

It was his 10th win, including 2 Masters, and he moves to #41 so will now play in the WGC Mexico Championship in a fortnight.

A word about the resurgence of 45 year old Phil Mickelson who had another good week, a final 68 saw him T6. With good performances at Phoenix and Pebble Beach he has 3 straight top 10's for the first time since 2009

Other Canadians: Nick Taylor 71 71 74 68 E,  Ben Silverman 72 71 70 73 +2
