europeantour.com.. Half way through round two Matt Ford’s three shot lead at the Africa Open was cut to one as Eduardo de la Riva matched the Englishman’s second round -6 66 at East London Golf Club. In less blustery conditions to the opening day in South Africa, Ford moved to -11.
De la Riva started on the ninth and began with two bogey's in this first three holes before he turned it on with eight birdies for his 66 -10 total.
My pre tournament pick Jaco Van Zyl, who T2 at last week’s Joburg Open
shot 66 as well and is leading the four South Africans in the top ten at -8.
By the way Ford was about to spend a winter working for Royal Mail as a letter carrier before coming through November's Qualifying School at the tenth attempt.
