AP....Uber-manager Chubby Chandler came within a PGA Championship this year of winning the “Chubby Slam,” the media-created single-season sweep of the year’s major championships by members of a single management firm. On Friday Chandler lost his second high-profile client in less than a month.
U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy has left Chandler’s International Sports Management and will join fellow Ulsterman Graeme McDowell at Dublin-based Horizon Sports Management, according to numerous reports.
Ernie Els left Chandler’s stable last month following seven years together to join a new firm led by Vinny Giles and Buddy Marucci.
“Onward and upwards,” Chandler said via ISM’s website. “We have had a quite brilliant year.”
The news surfaced a day after McIlroy competed against fellow ISM clients Darren Clarke and Charl Schwartzel at the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda, which was won by PGA champion Keegan Bradley
Chandler reportedly gets 25% of deals he brokers for his clients, so it seems Rory is looking for a little more personal attention for a lot less money..
