Ishikawa is the Clubhouse leader at Doral...Ames tied for the lead in Puerto Rico

Half of the field is out on the Blue Monster in Fair weather conditions at 58*F completing their 1st round after the crazy wind (80km/h) and rain that blew through Doral yesterday, uprooting newly planted palm trees, knocking over TV towers and demolishing the old score board at 18 delayed play. Somehow nobody was hurt and if you tuned in late and saw the guys playing in perfect scoring conditions you would never have known the chaos that took place for an hour..

19 yr Japanese star Ryo Ishikawa is the clubhouse leader after his -7 65. Mahan is at -8 but playing 16.

Of the big 3, Kaymer is at -6 on 15 as is Luke Donald and Lee Westwood is at -1..

Woods is in at -2 70 as is Graeme McDowell and Mickelson is at +1 73..

I will have complete 1st round scores when they finish, and they will begin round 2 in the same pairings..

Puerto Rico Open

Great news Stephen Ames is having his best round of the year -6 today all birdies no bogey's playing the 16th. Opened with 69 yesterday so is at -9 right now tied with 3 others..

David Hearn is waiting to play round 2 at -4 68,  Matt McQuillan was -1 71 and is +1 through 9 today E..

Chris Baryla is going to have another weekend off if he doesn't have a big day today. He has a late tee off and is at +5 77

The cut is projected at E..

Details to follow

Mike Weir

As I reported here yesterday when the Puerto Rican Open Tournament Director told me that Weirsy cited a wrist injury for his WD, it turns out he has a cyst on his left wrist and should be fine after a week's rest, if not he will have to get it drained...
