PGA Tour : WM Phoenix Open Leaderboard Tee Times
An old adage often applied to golf is "horses for courses"
In 2023 when this WM Phoenix Open caused such a ruckus as a $20,000,000 dollar event until we became blazei Nick Taylor battled Scottie Scheffler on Sunday finishing 2nd 66 69 67 65 267 worth $2,180,000 more than enough to retire on.
Now here he is after a long rain delayed 1st round, everyone playing lift, clean, replace he ties the course record -11 60.
As I listed he was -3 through 6 holes before the rain Thursday, but he came out this morning as the hottest golfer with 8 birdies, no bogey's in his last 12 holes -11 60
Obvious to say it was one of those golf gods days where he made everything...
“I drove it great, ball in hand, and was hitting my irons nice,” Taylor said. “I essentially made every putt I looked at. It was a day that you don't want it to end. Luckily I'm going to play another round here, so hopefully I can keep that going. But everything has worked really well.”
Taylor rode a hot putter in his blistering round, using just 23 putts on the day. He holed 184 feet of putts, including 133 feet for birdies. The longest was a 32-footer on the 12th hole (his third of the day) and there were two more over 20 feet. He added a 30-foot par putt on his 16th hole, the par-3 seventh, getting up and down from a greenside bunker.
“I don't know what to say,” stated Taylor. “I've probably never putted that well.”
edit *** With round 2 delayed by early morning frost, underway Nick managed to complete his 2nd round in -1 70 and at -12 he is tied for the clubhouse lead with American Andrew Novak 65 65 -12.
Nearly half of the field need to return Saturday morning at 9.30 EST to complete their 2nd rounds before the cut is made and round 3 can begin.
