DP World Tour : Commercial Bank Qatar Masters Leaderboard Tee Times
With the clubhouse lead at just -5 shared by Zander Lombard 67 (RSA) and Ashun Wu 67 (China) the leaderboard is jammed after a breezy 10-16mph NW opening day at the Doha GC in Qatar. 27 players are within 3 shots of the lead.
Aaron Cockerill made a late rally with 2 birdies on his last 3 holes, narrowly missing a 14' birdie on 18, after a tough start with 3 bogey's on his front nine. He drove it into the trees on #1, played a provisional, but after finding his original ended up with 6 on the par5.
A birdie 4 on the 10th was a good start which he gave back with consecutive bogey's on 11 and 12.
However he settled in with pars at 13,14 &15 then the late charge as he drove the green on the par4 16th for birdie, made a 35 footer for birdie on the par 3 17th and on the long 590yd par5 18th with water along the left, he was in the greenside bunker in 2 but couldn't convert the sandy.
Still +2 74 T89 just 7 shots off the lead could have been much worse, with another breezy day ahead on Friday, Aaron will be out early before the worst of the wind.
