Late bogey's drop Weir out of contention.. Harrington leads, Langer, Els, Toms at TimberTech Championship

 PGA Tour Champions: TimberTech Championship

Nobody knows or plays the Old Broken Sound course in Boca Raton better than Bernhard Langer. He lives there.

Bernhard Langer, the TimberTech defending champion, moved into second place Saturday with a 63, low round of the day, on the Old Course at the Broken Sound Club in Boca Raton. Langer goes for his fourth TimberTech title on Sunday.

He can't win the Charles Schwab Cup this year, Steve Stricker after a career year has already wrapped that up.

However Bernhard, as stubbornly competitive as ever won't let that deter him one bit. He is looking for his 47th win, the all time leader, his 3rd win of this year, his 4th win on this course at this championship (2010, 2019, 2022)

Yesterday he beat his age (66) with a bogey free -8 63 after opening with E71 to make it into the Sunday final pairing with leader Padraig Harrington 67 66 -9 and resurgent David Toms 67 67 -8. He is in the final pairing for the 4th time this year.

Ernie Els 70 65 -7 is T4.  Tee Times

Canadians

After an opening -3 68 Mike Weir was going along nicely on Saturday, with a birdie, birdie, birdie start he went out in -2 34.

However he stalled on his back nine with 5 straight pars, before a bogey at the 15th, birdie at 16th but a double at the 17th brought him in at +2 37 for a T14 -3 total, 6 shots off the lead with one round to play.

However with the top 36 slated to play the Tour Championship in Phoenix next week, he is projected to finish the year #32.

Stephen Ames came into this week ranked #4 after a stellar season, thus will play next week no matter what happens on Sunday. He is T20th 74 66 -2
