Pro golf can be wonderfully rewarding, but as we all know can be cruel at times, After making an honest mistake on Wednesday by playing the wrong ball on his final hole at Torrey Pines in this edition of the Farmers Insurance, Mac Hughes called the penalty on himself and incurred a two shot penalty, finally signing for a -2 70.
Yesterday he posted an E par 72 for a two round total of 142 -2 and as luck would have it, after all 156 of the field's scores were tallied the cut fell at -3. As a result Mac will miss the weekend as will his Canadian colleagues Corey Conners, Adam Hadwin, Jared du Toit and Max Sear. They are not alone as stars like Rickie Fowler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson and Jordan Spieth all found out !!
Chasing the leaders Adam Schenk, Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas all at -13 are Nick Taylor and Taylor Pendrith at T23 -6, Adam Svensson and Michael Gligic T59 at -3.
The field will all play the South course for the last 2 rounds, remember this event wraps up on Saturday evening, to avoid the TV coverage of the NFL Championship games.
