As I said yesterday, who knew who was going to win this weather ravaged Sanderson Farms Championship and in the end it was Peter Malnati who won for the first time on the PGA Tour, closing with a -5 67 -18. He was one shot behind going into Monday's final round but got hot with five birdies to beat William McGirt (68) and David Toms (69) by a shot.
Malnati is 28, born in Indiana and went to school at University of Missouri, regained his card this year after finishing 4th on the Web.com tour money list. His wife Alicia is his caddie. He is a Kansas City Royals fan and now lives in Knoxville.
Due to rain that swept through central Mississippi the championship was delayed five times, and as a result some of the field played 30 holes.
Roberto Castro led through the first two rounds but shot a +3 75 in the third round and finished at -16 and as for the Canadian contingent defending champion Nick Taylor T20 71 -11, Adam Hadwin T28 69 -10 Graham Delaet T33 72 -9
