More frost plus the Superbowl mean a Monday finish in Phoenix..

Here's the weather forecast for Phoenix on Saturday..
Sunny

Temp: 64 high/29 low
There may be a frost period for a third consecutive morning, but afterward conditions will be sunny with variable winds of 4 to 8 mph

With that in mind here is the game plan for this Phoenix Open..

By Friday afternoon, only six of the 130 players remaining in the field had completed the second round. And with a third straight frost delay anticipated on Saturday morning PGA TOUR officials announced that the 72-hole event was going to finish on Monday.

The second round will resume, (cold) weather permitting, at 11:30 a.m. ET (9:30 a.m. local). Those players who were part of the morning wave in the first round who didn't play at all on Friday will then begin their second rounds at noon ET (10 a.m. ET).

After everyone has completed two rounds on Saturday, the field will be cut to the low 70s and ties. The full 72 holes will be played, which necessitated the Monday finish

Why not play 36 on Sunday ???? Well possible frost but for sure a little something called the Superbowl !! So they will be sent out early Sunday if possible and get 18 in and get off the course before TV coverage of the Superbowl starts..

For what it's worth Mark Wilson and Tommy Gainey are leading at -11, 2 shots ahead of Geoff Ogilvy as they are at varying stages of round 2..

EUROPEAN Tour

Round 3 is underway in Doha, Qatar and more than half the field is done, the leaders are still playing as Markus Brier continues to lead.. I will have full details as the day goes on...
