McIlroy still in the lead in Dubai..

Further to my earlier post this morning round 2 is now complete at the Dubai Desert Classic and Rory McIlroy 65,68 -11 continues to lead this star studded field by a shot over Sergio Garcia 67 67 -10 and Thomas Aiken 67 67 -10.

McIlroy who has been talking this week about his new patient attitude towards each round had this to say after his round..

"I felt a little more at ease with my swing yesterday, but I stayed patient and picked up the birdies when I could."Maybe this time last year I would not have been able to grind out a 68 after the start I had. Rounds like this prove I am doing the right thing.“I really wanted that, to get to 11 under, and so it's nice to come into the weekend with a little bit of a lead.”

Garcia needed to birdie 18 to join him atop the leader board but could only make par 5, but he looks much happier than he did 6 months ago when he was still shattered over being dumped by Greg Norman's daughter Morgan Leigh. Here's what he said about her early in 2010..
“Myself, when I am not feeling happy on a golf course and not up for it, that is the way it is. You can’t do anything about it. I can’t do well. Obviously the break-up with Morgan didn’t help. You get over some things. Others take a little longer."
Now he seems over it and he is back striking the ball beautifully.

Tiger is now 71 66 -7 T5 with 4 others
Lee Westwood  69 70 -5 is T11 and is playing solidly if not spectacularly yet.
Martin Kaymer 69 71 -4 is T20 with 7 others.
