Hughes "moves" out of lead in Texas, Cockerill surges in Belgium...stories.. scores

It's not called 'Moving Day' for no good reason....

After brilliant 65 64 Mac Hughes as he has done for much of this year joined those in the 'moving the wrong way 'Saturday dropping 13 places with a 2 over 73 to move out of contention at the AT&T Byron Nelson at -11.

That's five shots off the lead of Texan, Ryan Palmer 65 64 68 -16 and 2 guys many of you have never heard of, Chinaman Zecheng Dou 63 70 64 -16 and American Austin Eckroat 69 65 63 -16 out of Oklahoma in his 31st tour event.

Dou an immigrant from China won 3 times on the Korn Ferry and now lives in Dallas and calls TPC Craig Ranch his home course, and rookie Eckroat are vying for their first Tour win.

Adam Hadwin improved 15 spots T33 67 70 67 -9 and Roger Sloan dropped 25 spots 68 68 70 -7 at this low scoring week in McKinny, Texas.


DP World Tour : Soudal Open 2023 Leaderboard

Winnipeg's Aaron Cockerill at 31 would love to join the ranks closer to home on the PGA tour with wife Chelsea and new daughter Addison but he plies his trade instead on the DP World Tour after gaining full status last year as one of the card winning 117.

He made another good move in Belgium at the Soudal Open up 14 spots from T40 to T26 70 70 66, with an eagle, 4 birdies and a lone bogey on Saturday.

The leader at -15 is a Swede, Simon Forsstrom 64 67 67 -15 who will be in the final pairing with Belgian favourite Thomas Detry 67 66 66 -14.

Steve Stricker is next to unbeatable on this Greystone G&CC having won twice, 2nd twice in his last 5 starts and he has a share of the lead again 68 68 64 -16 with Swede Robert KKarlsson 71 66 63 -16 at this Senior Circuit 1st major of the year..
