Two Texans Scottie Scheffler 64 64 - 14 and Ryan Palmer 65 64 -13 are at the top of the rainy weekend scoreboard, both have plenty of the locals cheering them on.
Howevevr they will have to contend with a brilliant Mac Hughes 65 64 -13 whose 2nd PGA Tour win came in a playoff at the Sanderson Farms last October.
He has been bogey free so far this week. on Friday he posted 7 birdies. The one that is on all the highlight reels came at the par4 16th with a chip and run.
"I had the whole length of the green to work with, so I was looking to get up and down for par, and it went in. That felt pretty good, I haven't done that in a while."
So far this year Mac has shown some good form, but hasn't put the 4 rounds together. It''s a birdie barrage on this TPC Craig Ranch, so he'll have to keep up with these guys to be in the frame come Sunday afternoon.
With rain in the weekend forecast, play will begin early 7am off split tees, in three's.
