Henderson and Sharp's turn to carry the flag at Tokyo 2020.. TEE TIMES

 Tokyo 2020 : Women's Golf TEE TIMES  OLYMPICS - WOMEN'S

Alena Sharp and Brooke Henderson will see if what they've learned from Corey Connors and Mac Hughes can be a help as they get ready to begin their 4 rounds at the same Kasumigaseki GC as the Women's Golf tournament gets under way tomorrow (today ET) at these Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Hughes didn't have a great week on the course finishing T50 -3 with a closing 75 while Connors hit his stride on the weekend with 66 65 to T13 -13. If you weren't watching American Xander Schauffele hit a clutch 3rd shot wedge stiff, for a closing par 4 good enough for gold at -18 to edge veteran Slovakian Rory Sabbatini whose closing 61 had him in the clubhouse at -17.  CT Pan from Taiwan won the 8 man playoff for the bronze.

Both Canadians agreed it was an amazing spectacle to be part of and although in his own words "I sucked" both are determined to qualify for Paris in 2024. The  final leaderboard is here.

Sharp and her caddie/ wife Sarah walked the course following the men on Friday, while both Henderson and Sharp received a hole by hole breakdown from Olympic coach Derek Ingram, then spoke with Corey and Mac before they flew back to the USA to resume this week's schedule.

They were told to "Let her rip!" right from the start. Both guys played too conservatively in their opening 2 rounds and found themselves stuck back in the middle of the pack.

" There is no money, no points so this is a good week to go for the medals, free wheel it a bit said Henderson, I'm always better  when I play aggressive, so let's go for it whenever we can, make birdies and see where we stand for Saturday's last round"

Alena is off at 7.41 on Wednesday (6.41pm Tuesday ET) with Kelly Tan of Malaysia and Holland's Anne Van Dam, while Brooke is at 8.25 (7.25pm Tuesday ET) with Lexi Thompson USA and Yuko Saso from the Philippines.

They are staying in the Olympic village as opposed to the men who took hotel rooms since they had their wives with them. They played together at the  2016 Olympics in Rio and learned a lot "an eye opener" from that experience.

The field is stacked with the Korda sisters and a strong South Korean contingent including Inbee Park who won the gold in Rio.

60 players, no cut and only the top 3 get the medals.

Let 'er rip indeed !!
