Reed takes early lead, with Rose right behind at DP World Tour Championship

European Tour DP World Tour Championship leaderboard http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2017/tournamentid=2017094/leaderboard/index.html#/leaderboard

Round 1 is in the books under the usual sunny skies in Dubai the capital of the UAE and the ideal conditions have led to low scoring from this final field of 60.

May I remind you at stake this week is the winner of this Tour championship with a prize fund of $8m and the Race to Dubai title and it's $1m bonus which sees Tommy Fleetwood leading Justin Rose, with Sergio Garcia trailing in third with an outside chance with a little help of snatching the title.

With a round of -7 65, American Patrick Reed has the early lead with a flawless no bogey, seven birdie card.

Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood are in the final pairing, and Rose took the early advantage with -6 66 T2  (5 birdies, an eagle and 1 bogey) while Fleetwood mixed 3 birdies and an eagle with 5 bogey's for +1 73 T46.

Rose is the in form player having won his last 2 straight tournaments, and after round 1 he is now in the drivers seat for the Race to Dubai title.

Sergio, playing with new clubs overcame two straight bogey's for a -2 70 T21. He says he has a 2% chance of winning the Race to Dubai, so is just going to play his usual game and accept whatever happens. You see what settling down and getting married and expecting your first child can do to a man !!

The defending champion is Matt Fitzpatrick and he is in the group at -5 67.
