Six tied for the lead at WGC Mexico Championship

PGA Tour WGC Mexico Championship leaderboard http://www.pgatour.com/competition/2017/wgc-mexico-championship/en/leaderboard.html

Club de Golf Chapultepec and it's tight tree lined fairways and small, tricky undulating greens provided the field with a tough challenge today, examining their ability to shape  shots and put themselves in the right position off the tee.

The best this elite field could do in ideal scoring conditions under blue sunny skies was -4 67, and 6 players managed that score, Americans Ryan Moore, Phil Mickelson and Jimmy Walker, Englishmen Lee Westwood and Ross Fisher, and Spaniard Jon Rahm.

There are another six at -3 including Rory McIlroy, so a tightly bunched leaderboard after day 1 of this WGC Mexico Championship. Rory is suffering from what so many of us who have holidayed in Mexico have experienced, un upset tummy. In fact Henrik Stenson was forced to withdraw after 11 holes.

Canada's lone representative MacKenzie Hughes is T20 at -1 70.

The altitude has these guys hitting 8 irons 220 yards, and there is a lot of elevation changes throughout the layout. The leading pack have a combination of youth and veterans. bombers and shot makers, but I enjoyed watching them all think their way around this traditional old style course.
