Quiet season for the old guys wraps up at Harding Park

Charles Schwab Cup Championship at TPC Harding Park, San Francisco is the official name of the season ending tourney for the Champions Tour. One Canuck, Rod Spittle has qualified he's first off at 1pm est with Brad Bryant, it's a 30 man field, and the contest is really between Tom Lehman and Mark Calcavecchia, with Lehman in the pole position. There are 880 points available.

For me it has really been an uneventful season for the old guys. Last year Freddie took the tour by storm in his rookie season, I have followed Rod Spittle and Jim Rutledge closely, but the glory days of Arnie and Lee etc., are long gone, and to be honest it's been a bit boring this year. John Cook, Peter Senior, Russ Cochrane, Jeff Sluman etal are great guys and solid pros, but there are way too many of them and not enough stars on this tour right now. Brad Faxon broke in this year and he hardly sends you racing for the TV does he, and the Charles Schwab thing is no more compelling than the Fed Ex thing...

Still I'll be watching and writing it here, along with all the news from the WGC -HSBC and don't forget our Canadian Tour wraps up this weekend at Desert Dunes with Adam Hadwin defending his title before he heads off to the final stage of Q school..
