It doesn't surprise me that Keegan Bradley put the finishing touches on a brilliant -7 65 which included an eagle 3 on the 18th (his 9th), he played beautifully on a very soft, receptive Sheshan International GC.

What did surprise me was Matteo Manessaro taking 6 bogey's and a double on the front 9, 44 ending up with +10 82 !! dead last.

Bradley leads by two from Bo Van Pelt (67) winner in Malaysia on Sunday and Swedes Alex Noren (67) and Fredrik Jacobson (67). Van Pelt was in complete control of his game last week and I expect him to contend here again this week.

Justin Rose and Thongchai Jaidee were in a group on 68, while Lee Westwood, runner-up last year, shot 69, the same score as Martin Kaymer, Simon Dyson and Graeme McDowell

Rory McIlroy had a "bad" day in his words but still got around in -2 70. Oh to be in his shoes.. Blessed with an amazing swing, perhaps the next "great one" to emerge over the next 15 years, sought after by corporations all over the world just begging to swell his bank accounts, already bulging, and accompanied this week by the world's best female tennis player, Caroline Wozniaki, the striking couple now dubbed WozIlroy. Imagine the athletic advantage any offspring that their enthusiastic bonking might have over the rest !!  They certainly are causing a stir in Shanghai this week with cameras of the throngs of Asian press and spectators following their every move.

Despite the fact that Keegan is the PGA champ and has won twice on the PGA Tour not including his little win at the unofficial PGA Slam event a couple of weeks ago, he still seems genuinely in awe of the company he plays in these days. "For me, every week I'm amazed at who I'm around. To be in a group like that in this tournament and to play like that on this course, is very rewarding and it means a lot to me" he said after his round with Lee Westwood and Adam Scott.

Water comes into play on 12 of 18 holes here and Francesco Molinari, the defending champion, was -5 with two to go, but found water on both of them and fell back to two under.
