For the first time in almost three years on the DP World Tour, there is a third-round cut at the BMW PGA Championship.

After a weather-affected first two days in the Rolex Series event at Wentworth Club, play in the second round went into a third day on Saturday morning.

Upon its completion, with Ricardo Gouveia – playing in the final three-ball alongside Fabrizio Zanotti and Darren Fichardt – birdieing the par five 18th, 86 players made the cut on 142 (-2) and better.

As a result, with more than 84 players progressing for the final two rounds, and under the discretion of the Tournament Director, there will be an additional cut after the third round to a maximum of 78 players.

This is the first time such a third-round cut has been required in a comparable event since the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in 2023, when 87 players and ties made the final two rounds.

All players who have made the 36-hole cut this week will earn prize money and points on the Race to Dubai Rankings.

Hideki Matsuyama, who is making his BMW PGA Championship debut this week, holds a one-shot halfway lead over Ryder Cup-bound trio Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Åberg and Justin Rose.
