PGA Tour : Texas Children's Houston Open ..Leaderboard Results
Like a good whodunnit we didn't know the outcome until the very end of this version of the Houston Open, except the villain was a good guy.
Stephan Jaeger shot 69 66 66 67 -12 outlasting five players Tosti, Detry, Finau, Moore and Scottie Scheffler (nice guy but the villain in this story) who you will know by now had a 5 footer on the 72nd to force a playoff, with Jaeger's wife barely unable to control her excitement in her orange dress, with their baby son in her arms at greenside.
I think it's fair to say most were surprised when Scheffler finally missed but were delighted for the Jaeger's with all this will mean to them. The Scheffler's have had more than their fair share of success recently and another $533,575 this week.
Stephan is from Germany where he grew up watching his father Klaus play the game. He came to Baylor High School in Chattanooga as an exchange student in his junior year and has stayed ever since, playing college golf the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
His wife is Shelby, his 2 year old son Fritz and their dog Phil all live in their new house in Chattanooga.
He won 6 times on the Korn Ferry tour, but had a bad wrap as a bad tempered, grumpy guy who took his losses home, and had trouble shaking them off
Turning point
In March 2022 his beloved father Klaus passed away, and his wife presented him with their son Fritz the same month.
Shelby : "Something switched after Klauss passing, and he finally realized their is much more to life"
Now with a new attitude, a new house, a new son and a rock solid wife they have a new life ahead.
Fully exempt through 2026, his first Masters later this month, 8 signature events next year, $1.6 million to pay for the new house, owgr 43, and most important forever a PGA Tour winner.
