DP World Tour : Jonsson Workwear Open Leaderboard
Round one is well under way at the Club at Steyn City in Joburg a 7700 yard par 72, this week's stop on the DP World Tour
Aaron Cockerill was out early this morning at 810 local time, in ideal conditions 26* partly sunny, light wind and he has made the most of his round.
A bogey free -6 66 has him in the clubhouse T2 just 2 shots off the lead of South African veteran Darren Fichardt -8 64.
Aaron had 33 on both nines, he birdied all 4 par 5's.
Last week at the SDC Championship he also posted a 66 on Friday to make the cut after an opening 77.
This time he's off to a great start, and although I haven't spoken with him yet, I'm sure in his 3rd week back on tour after 2 months off back home in wintery Winnipeg with wife Chelsea and their new daughter Addison, he has shaken off the rust, and this course obviously suits him.
Having the first child for any family as we all know is a real game changer, priorities are altered and it affects guys differently. While some couples are better prepared and surrounded by family and friends to differing extents, the arrival of the first child is special for everyone.
Being thousands of miles from home is now different for Aaron, but one thing's for sure, making money for one's family future gives most of us a renewed focus.
