PGA Tour : AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am here.
The perils of playing on the Monterey Peninsula in February have played havoc with this version of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
While the pros and celebs shelter indoors at their sumptuous residences and the fans head for their cars or homes Mother Nature made play on three of the world's most expensive golf courses a non factor according to Tour officials.
There was some opinion voiced that they stopped play too soon, more severe wind has not led to cancellation in other instances. The Genesis Scottish Open 2020 was played in a gale and driving rain three years ago they were " the worst I have ever been asked to play in" in Ian Poulter's words.
However balls were moving on at least 2 of the greens 9th and 15th on Monterey Peninsula which are right on the Pacific so the original call was made around noon local time, although the gusts and intermittent rain on Pebble Beach were not that bad.
GAMEPLAN: Round 3 is expected to start at 8am today, the final round, pros only at 12.30 for 65 and ties with the finish set for Monday morning. Only the celebrities who are in contention are expected to return this morning, most of the others have flown out with their event reduced to 54 holes.
WEATHER: 55% chance of more rain with winds listed at 22kph NW for Sunday with the wind out of the area, but steady rain for Monday.
American veteran Peter Malnati has the clubhouse lead at -12.
Canadians: ( the 54 hole cut projected at -1)
Nick Taylor -3 thru 9 holes (T18 -6 total) on Spyglass Hill.
Taylor Pendrith -1 thru 16 (T29 -4) on Pebble Beach
Ben Silverman E thru 11 (T101 +2) on Pebble Beach
edit **Ben is likely going to miss the cut at +1 however he and his celeb partner Aaron Rogers Green Bay QB playing off 10 have just won the Team Pro-Am at -26 which has been reduced to 54 holes.
Michael Gligic E thru 7 (T101 +2) on Monterey Peninsula.
